Since 2012 the Moncton Orthopaedic Group has participated in local investigator-initiated research and multi-centre clinical trials and research studies. Their research projects include Radiostereometric analysis of implant migration in total knee arthroplasty patients, clinical and patient-reported outcomes of bilateral versus sequential total knee arthroplasty, venous thromboembolism prophylaxis in total knee and total hip arthroplasty patients, the development of a communication checklist to enhance patient satisfaction with total knee arthroplasty, comparing single stage versus two stage revisions for chronic knee and hip infection, patient pre-operative education for total hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as orthopaedic trauma research through the Canadian Orthopaedic Trauma Society. Research studies the Moncton Orthopaedic Group has undertaken and/or contributed to as a co-investigator site has been published in the Canadian Journal of Surgery, The Journal of Arthroplasty, Musculoskeletal Care, and The New England Journal of Medicine. They have also presented their research at annual meetings of the Atlantic Provinces Orthopaedic Society and at the Canadian Orthopaedic Association national conference.
